Last weekend, I had a lovely time going back home to my hometown Penang. Surprisingly the haze wasn’t as bad as in KL and the sky was clearer. The clear weather helped relief my nose and head from all the haze, but it wasn’t just because of the good weather but mainly because I got to spend time with my family, especially my wonderful Mom.
As you have read in my recent post at http://www.diyanazman.com/2015/10/19/my-promise-to-always-be-there-for-you-mama/ I made a pledge that I wanted to fulfil.
My pledge was to head back to Penang and have a home cooked meal with my mom. And I did! In fact, I didn’t have one home cooked meal with her but many funny and laughter filled meal moments! Yay!
I’ve travelled to places like Japan, America, France and even Indonesia but to me the best food in the world is my mom’s rendang ayam, curry and sambal tumis! Hahah! We both love to eat so we love to try different ways to make food… hehehe!
Mom doesn’t really like having her photo taken. But I managed to convince her take a few with me! Lalalalala!
That’s my mom, she’s 64 years old but I am proud of how she maintains her health by keeping a healthy diet and an active lifestyle. I hope I can be as healthy as her when I am her age.
Mom making a Nutella sandwich for Rafa, her little spoiled cucu! And on the table may be some left overs but mom’s cooking was the best. While enjoying her food I suddenly realise we almost finished everything before I could capture some photos of it…hehehe But hey! I guess it’s just like the good old days when I was younger where my mom prepared a meal and I would makan-makan-makan! LOL
Spending time with our parents or family is so refreshing, just like a therapy for the soul. When was the last time you guys went back to have quality time with your parents? Or even a phone call to them? Think about it and perhaps make a pledge of your own at http://www.pledgefortomorrow.com
Not forgetting AIG is currently giving away amazing prizes for those who make a pledge, fulfil it and share it. Just submit your pledge at http://www.pledgefortomorrow.com and enter the contest now. Remember pledging alone is not enough you have to fulfil it and upload a photo on Instagram (make sure it’s public) with the hashtag #pledgefortomorrow.
You could stand a chance to win one of the prizes where you can choose from having a High Tea session with your family at the Majestic Hotel, a family day-trip to Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary, or a family cooking session with Le Cordon Bleu trained chef Rohani Jelani. The idea of all this fun filled activities I could spend with my family is just wonderful. I love it!
I’m not sure if I could win but at least I’m giving it a try…
Also, I found out that there’s an added bonus for the first 200 people who fulfil their pledge on Fulfil Your Pledge Day happening on 7th November. Those who take the time to fulfil their Pledge on 7th November will be getting a surprise treat hmmm… I wonder what it is??
So, don’t miss it guys. I think AIG has created an awesome campaign because it encourages us to spend time with our parents with an added bonus of giving us great prizes too! Don’t forget to look out for my next blog post and Instagram post on 21st Nov, there is going to be another surprise treat for those who take the time to fulfil their Pledge. I wonder what is it? Stay tuned! Share with me your pledges ya? Have a fantastic week ahead guys!
