Bonding with kids can’t get any cooler than this! “Scoops of Happiness” with Wall’s Selection Ice-cream

Ever since I bought my new popcorn maker, Miki became more interested in cooking activities with me. We used to make Hari Raya cookies together but that happens just several times a year! LOL Now we made fresh delicious caramel popcorn for movie nights at home and Miki loved the part where he got to stir the caramel syrup on the stove, mixed it with the popcorn and helped me put the tray in the oven. Simple tasks but I loved the bonding moments between me and my kids that were too precious… Just too precious…

And then I found out about this campaign called “Scoops of Happiness” by Wall’s Selection Ice-Cream range. Under the campaign there is a Facebook contest called Taste Joy in Disneyland with Wall’s. The competition offered weekly winners a family package to Legoland and the grand prize is a family holiday package in Disneyland Paris. The competition would end on 27 June 2014 so there’s still time!walls ice cream

So, how do we enter the contest?
1) Watch the 15 ice cream stories with the Scoops of Happiness videos.
2) Create your own ice cream story using Wall’s Selection and any other decoration you prefer
3) Take a picture of your creation with the Wall’s Selection tub in it too
4) Post the photos on Wall’s Scoops of Happiness FB page and share your creation with your friends in the Submit tab

Sounds fantastic right?? but to be honest, it was not the prizes that caught my attention. Maybe because we have been to both places, maybe because I never win anything when I join competitions…. Haha! but seriously, the activities that the campaign promotes are really really cool!!

I didn’t know we would make really cool food art from ice-cream before! This is super cute… Check out the pictures here. This is done by Samantha Lee. She is a food artist that’s so freaking talented. I wish I have the time, creativity and talent to produce all these yummy art work. I also watched the Wall’s Scoops of Happiness videos: www.youtube.com/ScoopsofHappiness

Anyway, when looking at all this amazing ice-cream art on Wall’s FB, I just suddenly got inspired to try them myself. I remember how much Miki loves making popcorn with me, I am sure he would love this ice-cream activity even more!
I am so tempted to copy Samantha’s design on The Pirates of Carribean above.

But when I showed Miki, he yelled happily “I WANT TO DO ANIMALS!!”

*slapforehead

Miki, you think your Mum is Samantha Lee issit???? I got the feeling that he would want me to create a dinosaur ice-cream sculpture. Spinosaurus to be exact. I can pengsan ok?

So I told him sure, let’s do a tortoise or ladybug and he agreed. I was so relieved… No spinosaurus or T-rex please! hahaha!

So I bought a tub of Wall’s Selection ice-cream with a pack of candy for decorations. This is my favourite flavour. It is really delicious and creamy; you guys should try if you haven’t. It’s called Double Dutch and it’s really sinful!

Walls Ingredients to make ice cream sculpture
First we create the garden for Mr Tortoise and Mr Rabbit to race like in the children’s bedtime story . I use vegetables and seaweed to decorate the garden. Because our weather is hot and my kitchen is not air-conditioned (melampau dapur pun nak air-con LOL) I put in the ice-cream last!

Step one – I made the garden landscape using seaweed, broccoli and celery sticks. Most people use white plate but hey, I thought let’s try something different and my bright red square plate instead.

Get ready all you animals in this garden…  Mr Rabbit and Mr Tortoise will be racing here in ten…. nine….eight…

Once the garden is ready, we started making the “tortoise” by using wasabi flavoured green beans.

All the ingredients or condiments used in this activity are all available in my fridge and pantry. It really doesn’t cost a thing. We had so much fun doing this Azman decided to join in.Hahaha.. I knew it was gonna be a great bonding session. Although he did it while watching the World Cup but it is OK Daddy! LOL LOL

This is what Miki did with his Dad. It is their version of Mr Rabbit. The long ears were made of prawn crackers and the eyes were made of bunga cengkih.

I then replaced the “animals” onto the “garden”.

Below picture – Miki helped me to placed Mr Rabbit’s ears back on him again.

Miki said, they are so cute Mummy, I wish they are real rabbit and tortoise! LOL! You already have a real rabbit and a tortoise in OUR garden outside… Lupa ke?

As usual, Miki took his imagination up to another level. He is now cheering for Mr Tortoise to win the race! Hahaha… Kids!

The blue and yellow M&Ms are the finishing line!

So what do you think?? Can challenge Samantha Lee or not? Hehehehe…. To my kids Miki and Rafa, remember it is not just slow and steadiness that wins the race but perseverance and hard work. Never give up, sons, and you will be successful in no matter what field you are venturing into.

Haha! So there you go, our cool weekend activity. I got the feeling that we are going to do more of this later on. The only side effect is sugar rush among the kids but they are always hyper anyway!

Do try it, and if you guys would like to try and win the prizes, just go ahead and submit your ice-cream art pic on Wall’s Happiness Moment FB page. Like I said, bonding with kids can’t get any cooler than this – of course it is cool! It is Wall’s Ice Cream!
