Stride to Ride Lion by Fisher Price – BILA KO NAK BERJALAN NI RAFA????

I guess it is true what they say. No two kids are the same. Even when they are siblings. Or even twins. When Miki was a baby, he was very eager to walk to the extent that his enthusiasm actually slowed him down. This is because each and everytime he stood up, he wanted to run! Not walk, but run! He would have walked steadily earlier I believe he he would have gone slow and steady… But nope, not Miki… Until today at 5 years, he hardly walks, Miki always runs.

Rafa on the other hand is also very eager, yes, but to get to a nearby adult that would pick him up, carry him and give him smooches and cuddle canoodles all those stuff! He is extremely manja! Now Rafa is 13 months old. AND.NOT.YET.WALKING.

Miki at this age was already roaming the malls, terrorizing the playground and chasing the girls happily. But Rafa crawls his way up the stairs, into the bathroom, under the table etc. I am not worried about him reaching the walking milestone slowly, but I wish he would start soon because he picks up a lot tiny microscopic objects on the floor while he crawls and he puts it in his mouth! Oh no…. If he walks, I don’t think he would still focuses on those tiny dangerous things anymore.

Azman and I have tried some steps to encourage him to “taktih”. Like holding both his hand and walk with him. We even use the old Malay “petua”or secret to kick start a baby’s walking process – by getting his feet wet with morning dew. The “petua” worked with Miki but it is yet to prove its magic with Rafa.

The only thing that Rafa would like to “taktih”with is my oh my…. Probably another godsent product for me – The Stride to Ride Lion by Fisher Price.

Rafa will only walk by pushing this thing! Can you believe that??? If I tried to hold him by the hand and encourage him to walk, he would just look up at me, sit down, and hold his arms up asking me to carry him like an infant! Rafa oh Rafa… Babies your age are already playing football!!

Anyhow, thanks Fisher  Price for creating his cute little musical lion for Rafa to practise his steps. Here is my manja little baby with his favorite toy.

I love the above picture, think he looks so adorable! Actually these pictures were taken several weeks ago. Now Rafa pushes the Stride to Ride Lion happily all over the house, even in his sleep suit. Check out the video below but ignore my annoying “CLEVVVVER BOYY!”hahahaa.. I just love to see Rafa walking even with the assistance of the King of the Jungle LOL.

Actually, after about a week of pushing the toy, Rafa got the hang of it and now he can stand up without assistance, stand for 5 minutes setadily (until I come into the picture and he decided to become a baby straight away again and crawls towards me). Ha has also take 4 steps continuously. Yay! I am sure he will be walking properly really soon!

Oh BTW, during Rafa’s last check up with his paed, I actually asked why isn’t my baby walking? The doctor said that walking is a complicated process for many children. Then he looked at me the doctor, he looked right on my face asked “At what age did you walk, Mom?”

Krikk krikk krikk krikk… *crickets*

“When I was a baby, I walked at 15 or 16 month.”

Krikk krikk krikk krikk… *crickets*

“Why are you complaining?” he continued.

Okayyyyy Rafa.. crawl all you want, you are truly a Mummy’s little boy! I love you munchkin! Muahhhh!
