Last week I was invited to a media fam session at Petrosains with other parenting bloggers. They were having a new exhibition called the “Sultan of Science” that we have never been to.
“Sultan of Science” explores the discoveries of Muslim scholars during the Golden Age of the Islamic world that has influenced modern society. This unique exhibition various interactive, sensory and static exhibits, along with touch screen games, videos and engaging information posters.
Again I thought that this is perfect for my 5 year old Miki because all these while, his main source for info is just the Ipad, books, us as his parents, Ipad, TV, Ipad and Ipad. Nothing else! Some 3D exhibit will ready do him good.
My friend Azza was also there and Miki was super happy coz he got to play with Airyll.
Actually I was surprised myself to found out that so many notable discoveries and inventions currently attributed to Western scientists were in fact, firstly made by MUSLIM SCHOLARS! Jangan main-main ok! The mat sallehs are not that great lah! :p
For example, Abbas Ibn Firnas, a polymath in 880CE was actually the first aviator taking the air on glider made of bamboo, fabric and eagle feathers with Hazarfen Ahmed Celebi, the legendary Ottoman aviator who achieved sustainable unpowered flight in the 17th century.
Miki checking out how birds move their wings to fly.
What’s great about Petrosains is the fact they always have friendly exhibition guides to explain to us all the exhibits and the story behind it. When we were here, all the guides were very friendly and good with kids. Miki loves the science experiments very much and he visited all the booths to try out each and every exhibits.
This very friendly girl here explained to Miki how light travels and how to some of the exhibit are being operated. Miki was like.. wowww…. Haha..
That’s my reflections on one of the exhibits. I forgot what does the invention do. LOL… I nampak mirror only I straight away camwhore.. hahaha
Below is Miki gawking at another exhibit, if I am not mistaken this one is called the Wuduk Machine. Dah satu hal aku nak menerangkan mechanism air tu kat Miki. Haha Luckily the guide was there.. :p
While we were walking around in the exhibition, this young chap named approached us. He turned out to be a street magician. Although he is no David Blaine but since non of us has seen a street magician before… kami agak jakun di situ! hahahah
First he asked me to take my own 20cents coin, I wrote down my initial on one side and my mum on the other side. Then he asked my to close my palm with the coin in it. Then he jampi-jampi lah like below…
MY 20 CENTS COIN WAS BENT!!!!!!! OMG OMG!! CAMANA NAK BAYAR PARKING KEJAP LAGI NI???
He did some rubber band trick with Miki and the best was when he bent a fork right in front of our eyes by just shaking it. Miki was fascinated!
A couple of days after that, Miki was still berangan-angan magician. hahaha!
Before we leave, they also have Science stand-up show… unlike other science show yg penuh experiments tu.. It was entertaining especially for Miki. Below, the Speaker explained how brain works by calling these two boys and get them to stand up like a siamese twin. Too cute!
Them once again the magician had his show and it was even more entertaining. After the show he came down the stage to show his magic to these boys. Here he is rubbing a fork with Airyll and bending it. Dasyatttt!!!
