Harvest of the Day – Super Spinach!

Surprise.. surprise! Look what we have growing in the most secluded corner in our garden… That’s spinach! Or bayam! Or amaranth! Or Popeye’s favourite! Aren’t they glorious?

Those leaves are so huge and healthy! And they grew so fast, this whole spinach patch is a surprise even to myself. You see, Azman was saying that he wanted to start a new vegetable patch… and as usual he went bla bla bla… and I went ya ya ya… masuk telinga kiri keluar telinga kanan… yata yata yata… (sorry Daddy! hehe)

And last Saturday he finally managed to pull me out to the back and look at his prized kebun sayur. Hidden behind my ginger shoot (bunga kantan)  and daun kari plants, he has been growing organic bayam that never looks so good.

And as usual, the plowing, watering, building the patch etc is done by the hardworking man but harvesting must be done by the camwhoring woman. Tadaaa…. Rasa nak tampar je muka sendiri kat gambar bawah ni… haha! Anyway, below pic is the proof that homegrown vege is way much better than those you can find in the supermarket.

These are strictly organic people! No pesticide no chemical fertilizer.

I think those who appreciate simple living, green environment and have a smallest piece of land should really try gardening. It is very satisfying to see the seeds you plant grow and even more satisfying if you can make a meal out of it. Like this batch of spinach was already served at dinner for the whole family.  I don’t know which one is more happy, our heart or our tummy!
