25 Prophets and Messengers in Islam

There are twenty-five Prophets and Messengers mentioned by name in the Holy Qur’an. Twenty-five (25) only.! Not twenty-six (26) not twenty-seven (27)!

They are:-

Adam, Idris, Nuh, Hud, Soleh, Ibrahim, Luth, Ismail, Ishak, Ya’kub, Yusuf, Ayyub, Syu’aib, Musa, Harun, Zulkifli, Daud, Sulaiman, Ilyas, Ilyasa’, Yunus, Zakaria, Yahya, Isa and Muhammad. Peace be upon them.

Or in the Biblical version, these Prophets and Messengers are known as

Adam, Enoch,Noah, Hud , Saleh, Abraham, Lot, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Job, Jethro, Moses, Aaron, Ezekiel, David, Solomon, Elijah, Elisha, Jonah, Zechariah, John (the Baptist), Jesus and Muhammad. Peace be upon them.

I believe in these 25.

When the Qur’an was sent to Muhammad pbuh, it superseded, abrogated and subsumed the earlier holy books namely Injil (Gospel/ Bible), Taurat ( Torah/ Old Testament) and Zabur (Psalms).

As a Muslim I only believe what is in the Qur’an. There are 25 Prophets and Messengers and 25 only.

There are other Prophets that have been mentioned in the Bible but not in Qur’an; thus we cannot be convinced that they are really a Prophet appointed by Allah SWT.

What happens when we believe that they are? Wallahualam. Only HE knows.
