Thursday nights are happy nights but last night was one hell of a happy Thursday night! Hehe!

In late September, we got the news that our money in Paypal can now be transferred to Visa Debit Card. I can’t say it was like seeing a light at the end of the tunnel because our financial tunnel is honestly have always been brightly lighted like SMART Tunnel. So it is fair that I say the news was to me like seeing the light at Louis Vuitton boutique at the end of the dark Starhill corridor. If you know what I mean.

So following the good news, we decided to go for Al-Rajhi Bank Malaysia for the Visa Debit Card and very soon after we found ourselves floating like angels to Al-Rajhi Bandar Puteri to get one. And we must give credit to the bank’s excellent service, from the resourceful Pak Guard to the helpful Bank Manager; we got the debit card right there and then.

Though we itched and itched to transfer some money from our Paypal right away, we remained patient and waited until other Malaysians have proven successful in obtaining their Paypal money this way. But the wait was so excruciating, on the 28th of October (Sunday), Azman gatai pungkoq shrugged and what the heck, he transferred USD105.00 to Al-Rajhi. That’s USD5.00 for the fee Paypal required and USD100.00 for testing the water. At this point, one had come across this site link, they’d seriously have reassessed their options of digital payments.

So the second phase of waiting began. I personally thought that the transfer would be successful by earliest Monday 5 Nov and Azman thought it will be much later than that. But praise Allah SWT yesterday 1 November 2007 RM328.28 was already credited into the Al-Rajhi account! That’s mere 4 days in processing! We were really happy! Even though the exchange rate is low ( 3.2828) but the foreign exchange rate Ringgit Malaysia (RM) to 1 US Dollar has dropped to 3.30 recently so how can we blame the bank? Besides the amount Al-Rajhi charged us was only RM1.00! Yea!

We were really pleased with this withdrawal success. It’s not the RM328.28 that we were celebrating but the convenience of withdrawing our money this way. Being typical sucker for celebrations, we went out for a nice dinner last night and of course our steaks were paid with Al-Rajhi debit card.

  19. Hi Josette,
    In order to get the debit card, you have to open a saving account. Then they will issue you your ATM card. This card works both ways as ATM and Debit Card. To open the account, minimum saving is only RM20.00.

  20. Hey…I’ve also applied for this card tapi belum tried the transfer yet 😉 Wondering if we can transfer more than US$100? cos i don’t wanna pay for the $5 fee….i know know…it’s only 5 bucks 😉 I better go transfer some $$$ and go out for some steaks ;D

    you are lucky to get 3.28, my other friend get 3.15 and 1.18 only… this is what i heard from them

    for you case..average all around 3.12 for USD105… withdraw more will be more worth…

    i am not sure about that. however, please make sure you are adding debit card number and not account number.
    then, your name & home address at Paypal MUST be same with your name & address during registration with al-rajhi account.

  26. I have a problem. I got my rajhi visa debit card today.

    in paypal, u need an “expanded use number” from paypal in order to withdraw right?

    So i clicked “Get Number” but got this message instead.

    “We were unable to verify this credit card. Please check if the information you entered is correct. If the problem persists, please try to enter a different credit card. ”

    So i checked my number and call the bank and everything seems ok.

    Did u guys enter an expanded use number for ur debit card? What have i done wrong?

    My advice, please put some money first to your al-Rajhi account (others than RM20 for open an account). RM50 should be enough. Then, you can start verified with your debit card.

    Also please make sure you enter the correct CCV number. 3 digit CCV number is at the back side of your debit card. It is NOT the last 3 numbers of your debit card. Most people do this mistake!

    thats the only thing that i can advice you.

  28. Hi, An expanded user number is found on your card statement where paypal will charge you $1.95 for verification of your card. On your statement the number will be stated next to the word paypal xxxx. Hope it helps.

  29. You can also make a search for your expanded user number on your online statement if your card supports it.

  30. i withdrawn my paypal into al-rajhi account many times already and the RM1 charge is only for the first time! after that..no more charge!!

    my latest withdrawal only took 3 days!! however, the worst…took almost 2 weeks..haha!

    can i ask you people?? who have a problem of getting thier debit-card verify on paypal.i just got me Al-Rajhi debit card but when i try to verify at paypal, messege come out say “We were unable to verify this credit card. Please check if the information you entered is correct. If the problem persists, please try to enter a different credit card.” who know what going wrong here?i had tried many time also retyped every things even create new paypal account but the problem still the same.Is there something to do with the address? but i am keep tried many times of changing but still the same.
    Please advise me.Thanks

  33. saya nak aktive akaun paypal guna debit card al rajhi. permasalahan sekarang duit saya kena potong rm1. tetapi akaun tak dapat aktive lagi. macan mana nak dapatkan no 4 angka?

    i dont know your actual problem. but i do believe it is due to ccv number.

    yeah..al-rajhi will charge your rm1 for first time transaction with paypal.
    then, you must wait until paypal charge you usd1.95 (kalau tak silap la..).

    from that paypal charge, you can get “expanded use number”. please wait until paypal charges been credited into your al-rajhi account.

  35. My problem same as Rosdi i already sent a email to Customer Support center of Al Rajhi Bank that is what i get from them.?

    “With regards to your email ,we apologize as our Debit Card-I cant be used for any Pay Pal transactions .This is due to our security reason If you have any further enquiries ,please don’t hesitate to contact our Customer Care Consultant at 1-300-82-6000 or 03-23326000 .Thank You .”

    Seem that Al Rajhi Bank? stop any new user from doing paypal transaction on thier Debit Card Due to many security trouble.no more paypal transaction on
    Al Rajhi debit card in future.

    I believe that rosdi got different problem. he has successfully added his debit card and now just waiting for actual charge by paypal. normally it takes almost a week!

    but..you have failed to add your card!

    i dont know if al-rajhi really stop accepting new user for paypal transaction but… most people working at al-rajhi dont know what is Paypal!!??
    before i tried…i already read from other blogs that al-rajhi customer care never accept paypal transaction…but…after i tried…emm…there are no problem!

  37. u can do withdrawals in PayPal by using al rajhi debit card however it depends on their report.the funds will be credited into your account once they have got report from PayPal’s merchant bank.blames shouldnt only be only pointed on al rajhi bank.the errors could be due to wrong info’s n delay on paypal side.as for “With regards to your email ,we apologize as our Debit Card-I cant be used for any Pay Pal transactions .This is due to our security reason ” comment ,what they meant is u cant use their debit card for purchases through PayPal but u can do withdrawals.

  38. nak tanya sikit, pin no. & the card tu kita dapat on the spot ke masa kita buka akaun kat alrajhi coz ada certain bank kad dapat dulu then pin by post & some other bank both pin & card by post… thanks…

  40. paypal has deducted rm3 from my al-rajhi yet there’s no sign that i can withdraw the money.some more deducted USD4.++ from my balance in paypal *sigh* i guess i’ll just wait..

    every month we celebrate our paypal withdrawal. the latest one was on early february however at this moment, we celebrate the arrival of our first child first!..oh yeah!

    i never try it. but i believe that we can verify paypal account and funding to paypal because al-rajhi card have visa logo on it.

I did 4 transactions to withdraw money from paypal to alrajhi debit but only one recorded to be awaiting and finally cleared in to my bank account. another 3 no records at all on the alrajhi online statement .no 1 ringgit amount yet been debited from my account for each transaction except for the first one . I emailed paypal for explaination and they asked me to wait for 14 days before anything can be done.

    hopefully everything ok because im waiting for USD 1000 to be cleared to alrajhi account . sigh

    al-rajhi only charge you rm1 one time. no rm1 charge for the next withdrawal. i also face the same delay problem a couple of time but until today, no problem and all withdrawal has been cleared.

    in my opinion, it is better for you to contact paypal rather than al-rajhi because sometime you might get customer support that know nothing about paypal and they will give you stupid answer..hehehe

  46. i hv the same problem as Dillon. I called Al Rajhi to clarify. It seems for any Paypal transactions, a CREDIT CARD is required BUT for Withdrawals A DEBIT CARD is sufficient.

    BUT how did you manage to use ur Debit Card for PyPal transactions? Mine didn’t get thru their verification.

    i just follow the normal procedure…and no problem happen.
    maybe your address or name at paypal & al-rajhi account was different.

    For setting up an account with paypal you’ll need a credit cards as if you’re purchasing online.

    Withdrawal you’ll need a debit card. The debit cards will allow you to have withdrawal.

    So in order for you to use the al rajhi card as your main card is not posible. You’ll need 2 cards –

    1. Credit Card.
    2. Debit Visa Card.

    If yes, which type of al rajhi account should we open in order to use the paypal service.
