As I am writing this entry, I realized that Day 4 of our vacation recently was really packed with activities. But it was really fun and none of us complained. Even the 6 year old and the 20 month baby….
I can say that my kids are pretty tough in a way. Miki really enjoyed himself and observed the places, people, activities etc at each location that we went too… Rafa mengamuk sometimes but mostly because we won’t set him free on his two feet and explore the surroundings on his own… Kalau dibiarkan lepas, he would be the happiest person on earth…
Anyway, from the Rose Garden we went to Rodeo Drive. This is 3 blocks of boutiques where the rich & famous do their shopping, and where tourists like us window-shop while trying to spot movie stars.
We parked our car right in front of the single most expensive store in the world: Bijan (at 420 Rodeo Drive). You must make an appointment in advance just to shop at Bijan. I think the name is funny but it was named after its Iranian owner. On a typical visit, Bijan’s average customer spends in the neighborhood of $100,000 on men’s fashions, which range from a US$50 pair of socks to US$15,000 suits. Fuyoooo!!! About RM49,500 sepasang suit… Kalau pakai terus jadi Brad Pitt takpe…. kalau maintain muka Jawa yang asal, tak payahhhh! hehe!
Here is Rafa drinking water in front of Bijan. Hehe..
Apart from all the amazing high end stores like Bijan, Hermes, Gianni Versace, Louis Vuitton, Tiffani, Cartier etc Rodeo Drive is also famous because many box office movies were filmed there such as Pretty Woman, the part when Julia Roberts went on shopping spree tu! In fact, it was taken at a woman’s clothing store named Boulmiche, located just a few steps west of Rodeo, at 9501 Santa Monica Blvd.
Of course I couldn’t afford most of the stuff they sell here. At least I can’t afford them then when I was on the California-Nevada tour. Besides some brands can be more cost effective in Europe like LV in above picture. I got my Tivoli in Paris and I love it to bits. But I did go to Rodeo with an intention to buy myself this bag of my dreams – Alexander Wang’s Rocco. Black with gold rose stud. Cantik giler bag tu cantik nak mati tergolek-golek jatuh longkang kind of cantik.
Tapi aku tak jumpa Alexander Wang. #sentap
I found Vera Wang and they weren’t even related! #doublesentap
It is my own fault lah I didn’t really research on the exact location of Alexander Wang in LA. So I end up went back to Malaysia at the end of the following week without the bag sebab tak sempat nak cari di tempat lain. Sedih. #nakpegilagi
On our way back to our hotel at Hollywood Drive, we stop here at Beverly Hills because we are very touristy like dat…
We let Rafa came down from his stroller and like I said he was so happppyyyyyyyy…. He was so happy he guling-gulinged on the ground. He was so happy he wanted to terjun tiruk into the water. Haishhhh… His nice white Polo was ruined entirely after that. Hmm memories of Beverly Hills.
Rafa bergolek Miki pun ikuttttt…. Haishhhh. Lepas tu Rafa syok sangat sampai terpoo-poo pulak…. Oklah at least ada memories I pooped at Beverly Hills kan Rafa? LOL
From here we went back to the hotel to freshen up etc. We had dinner at a HALAL Indian Restaurant,, just about a few minutes walk from the Hollywood Inn. It was so good to get rice. Then after dusk we went out again. I told you day 4 was full of activities. hehe… We took the Metro to the center of Hollywood Drive where the Hollywood Walk of Fame is.
These bintang-bintang bertaburan on the floor and there were so many of them with names of all the famous stars like Micheal Jackson, Kermit Frog… hehe
There is a Madame Tussaud here but we went to the one in Berlin and that is enough experience of wax statues for a life time.
We went to the Hard Rock Hollywood store instead. And shopped for a couple of t-shirts. I am a t-shirt and jeans kind of person. So this is sort of souvenir for myself lah…
The Dolby Theater. Tak dapat nak masuk lah sebab ada anak kecik.
That’s us in Hollywood Drive with rock stars, movie stars’ name under our feet… The streets felt safe and not overly crowded. To sum it up, we experienced the Studio Tour, almost shopped at Rodeo Drive, we have been to the Hollywood Sign, and took selfies with the stars on the floor of Hollywood Drive…
Hollywood been there done that! hahaha… Time to move on to our next destination. Stay tuned!
