I Visit Wisteria Lane of the Desperate Housewives OMG

One of the best and the coolest experience I got from our vacation in California recently was the STUDIO TOUR in the Universal Studios Hollywood (USH). It was seriously, totally, creakingly AMAZING!

Ticket to this tour is included in the USH entrance ticket. I am telling you if you were there and you don’t have enough time to check out all the rides…Go ahead and forget about Transformers, The Mummy and Shrek 4D. You can try them in Singapore but this tour?It is a MUST! Come on ladies out there, this tour took me to WISTERIA LANE! Weee~~

The tour basically explored the world’s largest working movie studio on 4 acres of land where basically we got to go behind the scene lah! Steven Spielberg himself provide creative consultation to the construction of this studio. If I was not mistaken there were 13 city blocks that were huge. These blocks we have all seen them in the movies and they are all FAKE buildings!

See that, only the facade of the building looks real but there is no interior at all. Below is another block of building that looks very familiar to me. Whole lot of movies have been recorded here like Bruce Almighty, Transformers etc

Coincidentally when we were there, there was no one filming so the entire place looked rather eerie. It looked like a city that had been abandoned by all its inhabitants very-very recently. Not a single soul, not a person not even a tiny cat.

We went on the tour on trams with Jimmy Fallon as the video host. Lawak giler kot Jimmy Fallon! He introduced all the places and showed clips from movies recorded at that location. The Studio Tour also includes the award-winning King Kong 360 3-D created by Peter Jackson. While we were seated on the tram, the King Kong was fighting T-Rex around us. Really cool effects and Miki pun starting to freak out.

Masa ni macam real je ada KingKong tengah wrestling dengan T-Rex kat tepi kita. Miki dah ketakutan. Rafa?? Tidur. Haishhh

Then we encountered with this eerie plane crash from War of the Worlds starring Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning. This Boing 737 was purchased, bought here and destroyed for the movie set. I was like fuyooo…

Pastu sampai lah ke tempat yang kunanti-nanti – the WISTERIA LANE from ABC’s hit series Desperate Housewives. Just like we saw on TV sangat cantiklah neighbourhood orang putih ni, rumah bersih, perfectly manicured lawn etc… Terbayang-bayang scene Eva Longoria tergedik-gedik bagai LOL

Then went past the legendary Bates Motel from the movie Psycho. They had some kind of staged performance kat situ. First we saw Norman carrying a dead body out of the motel and dump it into the trunk of his car. Then “Norman” appeared to start noticing us and he came slowly towards us in the parked tram. He took out this huge knife, ready to stab us to death. He came this close before the tram started to move away. Miki had nightmares of Norman Bates for the next several nights. LOL!!

Above pic ni dia orang buat movie apa tah. A lot of movies la but when you looked at it you realized how much you have been tertipu with camera tricks LOL. Kecik giler kapal ni. Dalam movie nampak besar and real giler.

Below was a location where the movie Flash Flood (1968) was recorded. After that it appeared many times in other movies such as Big Fat Liar and Fletch Lives. When we arrived the entire place was dry and calm then suddenly came this downhill flood yang mengerikan. This part memang hebat lah.. Memang sangat real lah banjir tersebut..

As we drove past this area, wah.. memang familiar looking, sebab from the movie Jurassic Park. Siap ada dinosaur betul kat tepi, terperanjat t-rex aku.

This was where they did Despicable Me!

Ada banyak lagi parts of the studios that were really amazing like the place that looked like a San Francisco train station. When we go inside suddenly the were earthquake and it looked super real, with explosion, colliding vehicles, fire, water gushing from broken pipe etc. Same goes with the set of JAWS, memang tiba-tiba this huge shark melompat from the water beside me… Really awesome, if you are a movie fan like me, you would understand the feeling.

At the end of the day, I have to say no wonder lah our local movies cam hampeh je. These Hollywood filmmakers really put the money and efforts into making their movie unbelievably real. I know our local film industry have their reasons why we can’t go big like this but if I were to reflect this on my own life,I’d say yeah I have learn a thing of you.

To my kids, Miki and Rafa, to be successful like these successful box office movie, you have to put in a lot of energy, creativity and never be afraid to do the things you thought you would never be able to do. Dream big, focus on you goal, put in all your efforts and success will be yours! 🙂
